What Boafo is, which AI it uses, and its limits.

What Boafo is
Boafo is an AI assistant for Government of Ghana services. It uses large language models to understand your question, find official sources, and write a short answer with citations.
What Boafo is not
- It is not a person. You can ask to talk to a person at any time.
- It does not make decisions about you. Eligibility checks are indicative only.
- It does not speak for the President or for any agency.
The AI Boafo uses
Boafo uses Claude models from Anthropic:

Search and ranking of sources uses Voyage AI. Speech recognition and speech for Ghanaian languages uses Khaya from GhanaNLP.
How answers are kept accurate
- Answers use official government sources only. Read How Boafo answers.
- Fees, eligibility rules and document checklists come from records that agencies maintain. The AI explains them and does not invent them.
- For high-risk questions, a second check confirms that every number, date and requirement is cited. If it is not, Boafo says it does not know.
- Every answer is recorded, with the sources and model versions used, so it can be reviewed.
Limits
Boafo can make mistakes. Check important details with the agency before you act on them.
Human oversight
Agency staff review content, questions Boafo could not answer and reports of wrong answers. A human oversight policy will be published here.
